VRTX Series SMS-TORK - Vortex Flowmeter

The VRTX Series is an SMS-TORK vortex flowmeter that measures mass and volumetric flow of liquids, gases and steam using the Von Karman vortex shedding principle, with a piezoelectric sensor counting the eddy frequency behind a bluff body in the flow path.

As flow splits around the shedding element, the frequency of the resulting vortices is directly proportional to flow velocity; the VRTX measures that frequency and calculates flow rate to an accuracy of 0.5 percent on liquids and 1.0 percent on gas and steam, improvable to 0.2 percent with precision calibration carried out in SMS-TORK's ISO 17025 accredited laboratory. For gas service, where pressure and temperature directly affect density, a temperature and pressure compensated model is available that recalculates density in real time for accurate mass flow output. The meter is offered in wafer or flanged connection, with or without a local indicator, pulse output, and Ex-proof, HART or RS485 communication options selected through the standard TORK order code.
