SMS-TORK ATEX Pneumatic Actuators

ATEX Pneumatic Actuators are the RX and RXM variants of the SMS-TORK rack and pinion actuator platform, certified to ATEX 94/9/EC for use in hazardous and potentially explosive areas.

Both the double acting (RX/RXM...DA) and single acting (RX/RXM...SR) lines are certified to protection class II 2GD c T4 with IP67 ingress protection, and torque values and dimensions match the standard TORK actuator of the same size, so no re-engineering is needed to drop an ATEX unit into an existing valve automation package. The RX designation covers the standard -20 to 80 degrees C ambient range at 2.5 to 8 bar (DA) or 4 to 8 bar (SR) operating pressure, while the RXM designation extends that down to -60 degrees C for Arctic service on the same certified platform.
